an hour to themselves: giving a private sauna session as a gift
Most people you buy for already have enough things. What they rarely give themselves is an hour, alone or with someone they like, with the door closed. How a sundaymood gift card works, what to put on it, and how to give it well.
There is a particular kind of person who is very hard to buy for. They have the candle. They have three of the candle. What they do not have, most weeks, is an hour where nobody can reach them.
That is what a session here is. A private suite on Sukhumvit Soi 24 with an infrared sauna, a 7°C cold plunge, a hot rain shower and a changing area behind one door, theirs for the whole session. Nobody else in the room, no attendant, no queue for the plunge.
why an hour works as a gift
Things get used up, put in a drawer or regifted. An hour tends to get remembered, partly because it is so rarely given.
It also asks very little of the person receiving it. They do not have to be into fitness, or know anything about saunas, or be brave about cold water. The sauna on its own is a full session. Plenty of people never touch the plunge and leave having had exactly the hour they needed.
And it is easy to share. Two people can use the same suite, so a gift for a couple, two friends or a parent and an adult child works as well as one for a single person.
how the gift card works
A sundaymood gift card is a balance, not a fixed treatment. You choose the amount, and they can spend it on a session, the Intro Offer, a membership, or anything at the desk.
To buy one, message us on LINE at @sundaymoodth or on WhatsApp at +66 92 499 5888, or ask at the desk next time you are in. Tell us the amount and who it is for, and we will set it up and send it back ready to forward.
When they want to use it, they message us with a day and a time and we book it against the card.
what to put on it
Prices are per person, so it helps to think about how they are likely to use it.
- One hour for one person: THB 1,200.
- One hour for two: THB 2,400. The most common way people use a gift.
- Ninety minutes for two: THB 3,200. Our suggestion for a couple, because pairs talk, move more slowly, and the extra half hour is the difference between three full rounds and two hurried ones.
- Three sessions for someone new to us: THB 3,240 covers the Intro Offer, three sessions at THB 1,080 each, which is a good way to turn a gift into a habit.
Any amount works. These are just the ones that line up with a real booking, so nobody is left with an awkward THB 200 on the card.
who it suits, and who should check first
It suits almost anyone who is tired, busy, or recovering from something: training, a long project, a new baby, a hard year. It suits people who would never book it for themselves, which is most of the point.
A few people should check before going. Anyone who is pregnant, has a heart condition, has low or high blood pressure, or takes medication that affects how they handle heat should speak to their doctor before a sauna session. We do not take under-15s, and 15 and 16 year olds need to come with an adult. None of this is a reason not to give the gift, but it is worth knowing before you choose it for someone.
If the person you have in mind hates the cold, that is fine. The plunge is entirely optional. Our guide to their first visit walks through what actually happens in the hour, and it is a good thing to forward along with the card.
giving it well
A gift card is better with a date attached. If you can, book the session with them, or put a time in the diary together. "Use this sometime" tends to become "use this never".
Tell them what to bring: swimwear, and that is about it. Towels, robes, skincare and a drink afterwards are already in the suite.
If it is for two of you, read what a couples session is actually like. It covers how to share the suite when one of you loves the cold and the other does not.
if it is for december
Evenings and weekends are when the suites are most in demand, and December is busier than most months. If the gift is for a particular date, a birthday or the week between Christmas and New Year, message us early so we can hold a time for them.
A card given in December also makes a good start to January. Plenty of people use theirs in the first weeks of the year, when the idea of an hour that asks nothing of them is especially welcome.
for teams and clients
If you want several cards, for a team, clients or a thank-you to people who helped over the year, message us on LINE or WhatsApp with the number and amount and we will put them together for you.
